“SHIP REGISTRY SANCTIONS RISK MANAGEMENT” WORKSHOP COMMENCES IN ULAANBAATAR

The “Ship Registry Sanctions Risk Management” Workshop commenced on 24 August 2026 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The three-day workshop is jointly organized by the Embassy of the United States of America in Mongolia and the Mongolia Maritime Administration, with experts from Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) serving as facilitators and trainers.
Representatives from the Ministry of Road and Transport, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mongolia Maritime Administration, and other relevant organizations are participating in the workshop.
The workshop covers key topics related to international maritime sanctions regimes, sanctions compliance and risk management, Flag State responsibilities, sanctions evasion indicators and typologies, risk assessment and mitigation, and best practices for ship registry oversight and audits.
The workshop also provides an opportunity for participants to exchange knowledge and experience on assessing and managing risks associated with ship registration and sanctions compliance.
The workshop contributes to strengthening Mongolia’s capacity in ship registry oversight and sanctions risk management, while supporting the application of international standards and best practices and enhancing inter-agency cooperation.
